This rug was inspired by a weaving class I took in New Mexico a few years ago. We learned to create different kinds of horizontal and vertical stripes that are traditional in Rio Grande weaving. In this rug, I have interposed these stripe motifs against a background of my hand-spun, hand dyed yarns in shifting, vibrant colors: the reds, oranges and greens.
Contents: 100% wool Lincoln Longwool, raised in the Gallatin Valley, near Bozeman, Montana. Lincoln is prized as an excellent rug wool; it is soft yet durable, with a long staple-length and beautiful sheen. The warp yarn was spun by our local, organic mill; the weft yarns were hand-spun by me in natural and dyed colors. I wove the rug on my Swedish floor loom.
Size: 3' X 5' approx.
I loved making this rug and I hope my creation brings you joy as well.
